The raw wastewater flows into the rotating screen and is filtered when leaving the screen from the inside to the outside. Suspended solids are trapped on the inside surface of the screen, and raked upward as the screen rotates. The solids collected at the top of the inside of the screen are flushed out with flushing water down into a discharge trough for collection.
