WHAT IS DIATOMITE FILTER ELEMENT?
The diatomite candle filter is welded by a wedge profile wire and support bar. A continuous gap is formed on the surface of the candlestick, and the gap is narrow outside and wide inside. The filtering direction is from outside to inside.Advantages of wedge wire candle filter

- Providing a larger surface area allows for faster filtration and uses fewer filter aids, which can trap most large particles such as yeast and other impurities.
- The candle filtration surface grows with growing amounts of the floated kieselguhr and captured impurities resulted in a prolonged filtration cycle and increased volumes of filtered beer.
- It can be washed repeatedly.
- The highest filtration accuracy is 10 microns.
- No moving parts.The wedge wire candle filter element itself is the membrane containing the filter aid. During the solid-liquid separation process, the filter aid may be diatomaceous earth, perlite, cellulose, or other materials, the candle does not perform any filtering.
Covering the candle is a filter aid, which can perform the actual filtration.
Today, candles are made of stainless steel V-shaped wedge wire, and their accuracy is much higher than that of the old-style candles.
Unfiltered beer passes through the filter cake from the outside of the candle and enters the center of the wedge wire candle filter. The filtered beer now flows out of the filter housing through the mounting plate or manifold that holds the candle filter.
The most candle filter element is installed on the top of the filter housing, but some models of candle filters are installed on the bottom.
